Åsa Giertz is a Senior Agriculture Economist at the World Bank’s Food and Agriculture Global Practice. She has over 13 years of experience of working with agriculture and food security in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Central, and Latin America. For the past five years, she has worked extensively with agricultural risk management, developing approaches for how to assess impacts of agricultural risks on production and food security, and advising Governments on how to better manage such risks. She has an MSc in Macro and Development Economics from Stockholm University and an MSc in Food and Nutrition Policy from City University London. Before joining the World Bank, she worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
